This 1979 Fiat X-19 has been in storage for almost 20 years that we can document, maybe longer than that. The odometer shows 20,000 miles but in no way would we try to document that on a 37 year old car. What we do know, is that the car had a very straight body with only two small spots (.50c size) of rust. We had the body refinished and repainted including removing and replacing bumpers, moldings and trim pieces where possible. Also had the seats recovered in a modern pattern that matched the original door panels and had new factory molded carpet and floor mats which were ordered from overseas. Mechanically the engine runs fine with no knocks or ticks and seemingly sufficient compression. All of the lights and gauges operate as they should, heater blows hot air and aftermarket radio works. It also has NEW tires on the original wheels that have been re-polished to an awesome look. The transmission has some scraping going in to third and fourth gears (synchronizers?) and pops out of reverse if not held in place. It does have a scratch in the wind shield and door and hood latches take some finesse to operate. Also needs carburetor work / tune-up. This is an old car and in no way will it be perfect, however it is overall an above average car for its age. The car is in warehouse and shown by appointment only. The X1/9 underwent three generations in the U.S.A.: 1974 cars, 1975-78 cars, and 1979-87 cars. In 1979 U.S.A. cars received an increase in displacement to 1498cc and a 5-speed transmission. In 1979 U.S.A. X1/9s also received both exterior and interior revisions including integrated bumpers front and rear, as well as a new front grille and airdam. The instrument panel and dash redesign moved the heating and ventilation controls from the center console up to the main dash, relocated the radio into the center dash area, moved the fuse panel from the area above the driver's left knee to the area above the passenger's footwell where the glovebox was, and moved the glovebox atop the dash.
